World-class neonatal care – giving your baby the safest possible start in life

Your baby is in the best hands at Döbling Private Hospital – cared for around the clock by a specialized team of nine experienced neonatologists. All our physicians received their training at the Vienna University Clinic for Pediatris and Adolescent Medicine
and work in accordance with its renowned high standards. Our close partnership with the experts at the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of Vienna – one of Austria’s foremost centers for newborn care – guarantees professional excellence and state-of-the-art care.

To ensure your baby’s wellbeing from day one, every newborn is examined at least twice by a pediatric specialist during their inpatient stay. Special attention is given to thorough clinical evaluation – listening to the heart and lungs, checking neurological reflexes, and assessing your baby’s overall development. Our pediatricians combine expert care with deep understanding to guide and support you.

As an added benefit, Prof. Angelika Berger, MD, Head of Neonatology at the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of Vienna, personally performs routine hip and kidney ultrasounds for every newborn and is available to speak directly with parents.

In the event of rare, unforeseen emergencies, a well-organized protocol guarantees that an experienced neonatologist is on call 24/7 and ready to respond promptly on-site if required.

Regular specialized training is provided to the obstetrics team, midwives, and nursing staff to continuously strengthen patient safety and care quality. To further strengthen the quality of newborn care, we have recently introduced cutting-edge technology such as a respiratory function monitor. This device offers real-time visual feedback and has been proven to enhance the effectiveness of initial care. In the medium term, there are plans to set up a telemedicine system to further expand the continuous availability of neonatological expertise.

If a newborn requires specialised care of a neonatology ward after birth, the baby is transported with the full support and accompaniment of our expert neonatology team. In these cases, the mother is always offered the option to be transferred alongside her baby, ensuring they remain together during this especially sensitive time.
