Prenatal care and support

Eight weeks before your due date, you can attend our prenatal classes with your partner or a companion. Here you will learn useful information about the birth. A midwife and pediatric nurse provide education about the upcoming event.

Feel empowered, informed, and prepared for a planned Caesarean section and your first days with your baby.

Content:

• Physical exercises to help you feel more in tune with your body and reduce discomfort during pregnancy
• Breathing and relaxation exercises for bonding with your baby
• What should you do if you are planning a C-section and labor starts unexpectedly (contractions, your water breaks)?
• Information about what happens during a C-section
• Support / role of the companion during the birth
• Bonding after the birth in the operating and recovery room: what to do and the benefits
• Vaginal seeding: what is involved and the benefits
• Preparing for your time as a new family, the postpartum period, and breastfeeding
• Getting to know other parents-to-be

From the 28th week of pregnancy onwards

During pregnancy, the woman’s body changes in perceptible and visible ways. Regular exercise can prevent possible problems such as varicose veins or pregnancy-related diabetes. Prenatal exercises are one way to specifically address this. Special emphasis is placed on exercises for relaxation, breathing and the circulatory system.

The following aspects physically and mentally support the preparation for childbirth:

• Learning specific breathing techniques
• Cardiovascular exercises
• Pelvic floor exercises
• Learning relaxation techniques
• Training in the awareness and perception of the body
• Exchanging experiences in the group
• Please bring a confirmation from your gynecologist that you are allowed to participate in these exercises.
